Annually, during spring thaw (approx April 1st till mid May), the Ottawa Mountain Bike Association respectfully recommends mountain bikers not ride the South March Highland trail system as general trail conditions in this area tend to be poor, with many trail sections extremely vulnerable to damage. OMBA does not police the trails, but many riders do listen to our recommendations and have seen the damage caused by riding on muddy trails (trail widening, erosion, mud holes that last all season).
OMBA regularly monitors trail conditions and will post updates via via our Facebook Page.
By staying off the trails at this time you’ll help OMBA’s efforts to ensure mountain biking continues in the South March Highlands, and trail building efforts are put into new trails, and not constantly repairing damaged ones. Many OMBA members have put volunteer hours into trail maintenance and building, and respect the IMBA responsible riding tips (http://www.imbacanada.com/responsible-riding-tips)
Your co-operation is greatly appreciated.
