CARLINGTON BIKE PARK GETS A FACE LIFT!

Our OMBA board member Mark Hurst has been busy working on giving a much-deserved face lift to Carlington Bike Park! Getting the right mix of material was key to ensuring the track can resist to wear and pouring rain. We invite you to visit or revisit Carlington Bike Park if you haven’t had a chance recently. This pumptrack is guaranteed to offer you a smooooth ride 😉

WHAT’S UP THIS SUMMER AT DOMAINE KANAWE?

Our friends over at Domain Kanawe have been quite busy! They just added two new trails: “La Familiale” and #34. Both trails are more geared towards cross-country riding having a double-track width. They will certainly delight families with their width and winding terrain. While riding them, you will see some beaver ponds and dams, as well as a superb viewpoint over Gatineau/Ottawa. The two trails can be combined for a total length of almost 10 km. Visit their updated TrailForks map site for full details. Are you looking for a summer camp for your kids? Domaine Kanawe is offering a summer camp program for kids aged 5 to 14. You can get all the details on their summer camp web site. Did you know that Domaine Kanawe hosts after-rides? Local singers, food truck, local beer, campfire, nice chairs: what’s not to like? Check out their Facebook page for the next after-ride event.

WHAT IS KNOW HISTORY?

Calling all history enthusiasts! Do you know about Know History? They believe that stories have the power to change lives – and they’re here to help individuals and organizations do just that. Whether they’re preserving community knowledge, conducting genealogical deep dives, or commemorating important milestones, Know History specializes in bringing the past to life. They’ve partnered with museums, Indigenous organizations, government bodies, non-profits, and corporations across the country to share stories that need to be told. HAVE YOU VISITED LAC BEAUCHAMP?

OMBA President Richard Gosselin (middle) came to visit and ride at Lac Beauchamp with two trail volunteers, Christian Schingh-Laniel (left) and Jean-Marc White (right). The city of Gatineau is piloting two intermediate cross-country single-track trails managed by OMBA which total up for around 3 KM, offering nice intervals all while connecting to the full network of double-track multi-usage beginner level trails which adds another 8 KM of cross-country style riding. The site is perfect for beginner and intermediate riders and has a visitor’s center with washrooms, exterior shower, beach, picnic tables, volleyball nets and more! Checkout the city trails map and TrailForks map for more details. Special thanks to Sébastien Blais (another trail volunteer) for the picture 😉

STONEY PATHS AT SMH

The OMBA trail crew at South March Highlands (SMH) have been busy building these awesome looking stoney paths, which are surely a blast to ride! These allow for roots to grow safely beneath all while being more resistant during heavy rainfall. Kudos to the team for the nice work! This is just one of many examples of how your OMBA membership contributes to sustainable mountain bike trails in the Ottawa-Outaouais region. Thanks for your support and don’t forget to renew your yearly membership.
